My internship with Climate Action Nevada strengthened my development as a Public Administrator, informing how the government and activism respond to each other. Although Public Administration is not closely related to activism, I became inspired by how enduring activists work to promote reform. As such, I wanted to focus on change in a different sphere, hoping to promote reform and results within a state or federal sector. Still, my activism internship will continue benefiting me to think beyond my past experiences and perspective and listen outwards to community issues requiring reform.
While I did not have activism experience, the internship helped inform the evolving landscape of social and political reforms. Along with our weekly meetings, we learned on the job by acquiring the skills as we did them. As such, I do not believe a specific educational background is required. Instead, one can utilize their major to highlight their skills. My Psychology BA assisted my internship by informing how I tailor my words and approach to people's tone and expressions, ensuring every conversation is personable, effective, and impactful. Since the internship is versatile, someone with a technology, graphic design, or any major could likely contribute their abilities in different ways.
For those interested in environmental activism careers, having knowledge and experience in government, political science, or environmental issues will enhance your resume. However, speaking to one of my internship's coordinators, it is not always a requirement. Instead, my advice to any incoming interns (or any aspiring employees) is to be flexible and communicate. Schedules may adapt, so practice being resilient even when uncertain and unprepared. Additionally, communication is paramount. Being concise and considerate ensures no miscommunication, which means work can remain enjoyable and enriching. Climate Action Nevada extended me outside my comfort zone; I am proud to contribute to the organization and continue advocating for social reform.

Communication is critical in anything you decide to do, great advice!
Hi, noah I like in your post how you talked about how the internship made you go outside your comfort zone. I think that is awesome and that is something that I try to do, I am trying to be comfortable with being uncomfortable because usually if I am uncomfortable I am changing and changing is inevitable.
Hi Noah. I admired your passion. We need more people like you that cares and acts on saving our environment. Looks like you had a great time at your internship job. Keep up the great work.
