This semester, I was a remote intern for executive producer Andrena Hale and her production company Cake & Candy Ink! Andrena was a great mentor, and has provided me with so many things that I will take with me through my career journey. She focused on showing me the process of how TV shows are made from start to finish, including me on projects that are going into development. I definitely think that working with her will benefit me in the future, especially because she has provided me with many networking opportunities to connect with other people in the business! As a Multidisciplinary Studies major, this internship has touched on all of my areas of study (Marketing, English, and Film). From writing projects to labeling sound bites to networking myself, Andrena has given me a very comprehensive look into what her job entails.
Education wise, I felt very well prepared to go into this internship. Most of the tasks I was doing was heavily research based, and that is not something I am unfamiliar with through my coursework. I am extremely interested in this job field of film, as I actually sought out Andrena before I knew I would be an intern for some tips on how to get into the business. After working with her and her partners, I maintain the fact that I am very interested in immersing myself in the film industry. Following the end of the summer, she has expressed that she may offer me a full-time position if she needs more hands on deck! Given that I have some previous job experience in film, I believe I would be qualified to accept the position.
Some advice I would offer to a new intern is to always ask questions! Intern mentors are there to help you learn, and expressing interest in more than what you are asked shows great initiative!
Below is a photo of her company logo, since I worked remote and a majority of my work is confidential information!

Hi Jaelyn!
I am glad that you found an internship that combined all of your disciplines, and congratulations on possibly securing a job offer from it! I also agree that it is important to ask questions, I think in earlier years I would have thought that asking too many questions would be bad because it would seem like I am not qualified, but after working and interning I agree that it makes you seem more inquisitive and engaged with your work. Although I am interested in very different fields, it's interesting to see the role that networking can play in any career. I'm glad that you got the opportunity to network during your internship, as it seems very important for film.
