I have always been interested in museums, and since it is a pretty small circle, I wanted to start getting involved. I am currently interning at the Atomic Museum, and I have made connections that will help me develop my career and form bonds with people in the community. I am majoring in anthropology, which is all about culture and human connections. The Atomic Museum was founded by people who wanted to persevere and share their story of the Nevada Test site, making this internship tie in perfectly with my major. I am interning with people from many different fields, and I don't think there is any one educational requirement you need to be successful in this internship. I am interested in this career; I enjoy helping the museum grow and develop. I had no knowledge about anything atomic-related before I started interning. Still, I had a good time learning new things and being welcomed and taught about everything in the museum. I have been learning more about curation and educational content throughout my internship and will need more experience if I pursue this career. I would advise people not to be intimidated by the sheer amount of stuff in the museum. It is about a complicated topic, but everyone there is very passionate and wants to share that knowledge with anyone who listens. I have included an image of some beautiful hand-carved wooden machines they display at the museum. They are one of my favorite things there, and I don't think they get enough attention.
