This Internship has done alot for me, in ways that most would not expect, but came at a great time in my life. The Love Yourself Foundation cares deeply about mental health and being your best self which is one of the reasons it is so amazing. When I entered into this internship, I was struggling alot with my anxiety in my professional job and I really didn’t know how to manage it. The Love Yourself Foundation gave me the tools I need to not only overcome that hard time in my life but know how to expect and prepare for it in the future. Im extremely grateful for not only the experience LYF is giving me but also the mental tools it has offered me along the road.
My internship doesn’t necessarily tie into my field of study, Political Science, but as I often say, everything is political. The Love Yourself Foundation is a non-profit organization and as we know, there is alot of regulations and laws regarding 501(3) and 501(3)(c) non-profit organizations. It was very interesting to see how a non-profit works on the inside and gave me a lot of understanding as to why we protect non-profits in the way we do! They are truly amazing! I’m really glad I got this opportunity to see how they operate.
For the Love Yourself Foundation, I don't think you need to have any educational requirements beforehand. You do need to have skills like time management, strong communication, and really the want to be involved. Having these skills will help you alot with this internship but they are so open and will help you learn along the way.
While I love working for this internship and I plan to stay with them after the internship session is over, I really enjoy a fast paced work environment and had a lot of components to it. While LYF is so advanced and has a great dynamic, I have always enjoyed the corporate side of working a lot and will most likely keep my work goals aligned with that side.
I would say if you want to create a non-profit organization, you will need to have a lot of skills but most of all, perseverance. Not a lot of people have the will to create a non-profit and jump through all of the hoops it takes to bring it to life. If you have what it takes to do it, go for it!
One piece of advice I would have for a new intern would be to keep an open mind. You may have previous experience or already have worked in this field, but every experience can offer you something new and add to your skills. From this internship alone, I have learned so much that has added to my abilities and skills which I am so grateful for.
I’m attaching an article about the Love Yourself Foundation as well as our website so you can get some insight into what we do and why we are so proud of Monica for creating this wonderful non-profit! Here’s also a great pic of the team!

I think it is so inspiring that as a politcal science major you understand that you could have influcence in laws that affect a non profit orginizaton. it is even more inspiring that you are interning with one, and want to protect what they stand for! This is the kind of involvement we need in those seeking to skew politics. I reallly appreciate your view point of having an open mind. I love what you stand for and appreciate your involvment with the Love Yourself foundation!!
It's nice to hear that you had a great time during your internship and how it helped you overcome that hard time in your life. I love how you chose an organization that does not necessarily tie into your field of study because, with the knowledge and skills you have developed, it would be a bonus for your future career! I'm glad to hear that you will be continuing your job when the internship session is over. I hope that you are able to accomplish all that you have set out to do!
It is great to hear how you enjoyed your experience and felt like you got a lot of knowledge and experiences out of it! Even though it doesn't entirely tie into your major I think being part of this internship gave you and possibly others a great open mind and heart. I am curious how you feel the skills and experiences you gained would help you move forward? What were your intentions/goals as a poli sci major when you joined this team? I would love to hear how this greatly impacted you.
Love the picture as well and glad that you had a wonderful time!
I love your thoughts here! As someone who has an undergraduate degree in Political Science, I couldn't agree more, everything is political!
I'm glad you had a positive experience overall!
