This internship with Congresswoman Susie Lee has provided me with valuable hands-on experience in a political environment, helping me develop a deep understanding of the legislative process, policymaking, and the inner workings of government. Interning in a congresswoman's office offered excellent networking opportunities. I was able to interact with professionals in the political realm, build relationships with colleagues, and establish connections that may be advantageous in your future career endeavors.
Though this internship does not tie in directly to my history major it has got me thinking about possibly pursuing my master’s or another bachelor’s degree in political science. It still provided valuable experience that I know I will use in the future as an officer and a leader. The experiences, tasks, and work I did during this internship has resonated with me and I found it extremely fulfilling working towards the betterment of my community, engaging with constituents, and shaping public policies.
To secure a full-time position in politics or related fields, I would consider advancing my education past a bachelor's degree, further networking, and additionally honing my communication, public speaking, and analytical skills.
