This internship has been incredibly beneficial for my future career in several ways, particularly as I plan to join the United States Air Force. Working with the AFROTC detachment at UNLV has provided me with invaluable experience that aligns directly with what I'll be doing once I enter the service. Although my major is in political science, and the internship revolves around the military, there is a distant yet crucial relationship between the two fields as they both involve interactions with the government.
Throughout the internship, I found that my existing knowledge from my studies was sufficient, and I didn't feel the need for additional educational requirements. My passion for this particular career field has been with me since I was young, and this internship has only strengthened my dedication to serving in the military.
To secure a full-time position, I have clear steps ahead of me. I must complete my education and graduate with a bachelor's degree, followed by commissioning into the Air Force as a second lieutenant. These milestones are essential for achieving my career goals.
If I were to offer advice to upcoming interns, I would encourage them to approach the experience with an open mind and a willingness to learn and absorb information. If the internship aligns with their desired career path, they should also focus on building connections within the organization. Building a strong network can open doors and create opportunities for future growth and success.
