This internship benefited my future career by the simple fact I was able to add it to my resume. The name and title of my internship really holds a lot of weight, and multiple people have expressed that to me. Considering I want to work in the front office of a professional sports team, learning business techniques and operations of the sports industry was very relevant to my career path. It will continue to benefit me, because it has opened many professional doors for me. I also got my internship extended for another two months, and will be going to the 2023 Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. I am graduating with a sociology degree, however with the help and guidance of this internship and the people I met through it, I have been accepted into grad school for the Intercollegiate and Professional Sports Management program. This will provide me with the proper educational requirements in order for me to find success in my field. Personally, I hate the fact that capitalism requires us to work 40+ hours a week till we are 65 to live a comfortable life. So if I am going to do that, I want to do it in the sports industry. That is why this internship interested me in the first place. If I have to work in order to provide, it has to be in a field I am interested in and out of work. As I said before, my masters program will provide me with the proper skills and education for this field. In terms of training, I would like to find another internship to gain more experience and build my resume even more. A piece of advice I have for incoming interns is to revise all resumes and cover letters before interviewing. It is also important to construct people skills, as shyness will not elevate you. Be outspoken, and work to exceed expectations.
