My experience with the Las Vegas Super Host Committee Internship program has been a great experience and I have learned a lot. I learned soft skills, gained social media knowledge, marketing, preparation for events, and research. The internship did not have anything related to my Political Science major. However, there is some journalism work, such as clipping work done by journalists and news channels putting the information in a presentation. As far as educational experience, marketing and social media is a plus, basic knowledge of PowerPoint, excel, and word, writing in APA and copywriting, event planning, and graphic design. This internship has brought up new interests that I want to pursue in my career different than my original plan which is working in sports and marketing. To be successful and train according always be open to learn new things and improve in basic skills. Some advice I would give, is to be a sponge because there is a lot to learn and cherish every moment in this internship and get as much as you can out of it!
I love your comment about being a sponge! So true! I know you will continue to soar in anything you do! Good luck!
I love hearing about your internship experience with the SBHC. Because of your feedback I now have a new drive to broaden my horizons of what the sports industry has to offer. Not to mention it is amazing to see more diversity within the sports realm. I cannot wait to learn more, and gain experiences like you have. Sports really does ignite a fire within, doesn't it? I wish you the best on you future career goals.
