Being able to have the opportunity to be an intern at the Cupcake Girls has truly been a valuable experience to say the least. The Cupcake Girls is a phenomenal non-profit organization that has been so inclusive to everyone with a no judgment zone and that alone has made me so grateful to be a part of it. As a sociology major, I've always wanted to be more involved with my community and this internship has allowed me to do so in many ways. I strongly believe that the Cupcake Girls and their mission to help sex workers ties in with my major of study because the whole entire aspect of sociology is a social science that recognizes human social relationships and institutions. The great part of trying to be in the Cupcake Girls is that you don't necessarily need to have any form of higher education and anyone with an open mind and a passion for helping others can join anytime. My advice to those considering becoming a future intern at the Cupcake Girls is to be strongly open minded and really be big on self care. This organization is keen on mental and emotional health and really takes care of their advocates, it’s a genuine organization that cares for individuals for both clients and staff members that are involved. Even after this COLA class, I would still love to be involved with the Cupcake Girls for their genuineness. and kindness that they’ve held upon others, it’s an organization that I will always admire.

Reading your time and experience with the Cupcake Girls was so eyeopening, as I was not aware that an amazing nonprofit organization was in Vegas! I love that you were able to apply your major of study with the organization, and the importance of mental health not only being placed on the advocates but the staff as well is a big plus. The Cupcake Girls definitely sounds like an organization that I would like to do more research on and potentially volunteer with. To be fairly honest with you when I was reading through the list of options we had to choose from I never knew that The Cupcake Girls would be such a amazing organization that helps others that are involved in sex work ties and are also passionate about mental and emotional health.
