My internship has benefited me by giving me experience on how to dress, act, and work in a career. This will be beneficial in the future to give me a basis to act upon in the future. My major is Anthropology which directly relates to the internship I am completing at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. I think a few years in college is required for completing this internship to be able to present yourself in a professional manner like when you are presenting a project. Experience using the Microsoft Office suite is also pretty useful, which ideally prospective interns would be exposed to through a few semesters at UNLV. The majority of my work has been in the office, but I believe I could do what I have been doing on a regular basis. I am interested in continuing this because I think I am able to contribute what I'm doing to the benefit of a place like this. A Bachelor's Degree in Museum Studies or equivalent would be recommended for a full-time position, but you would also need such skills as: experience assisting/running a tour, basic computer skills, and punctuality which are all necessary for this sort of career. Incoming interns should prepare themselves by being both eager to learn, and patient in regards to dealing with guests. This is paramount when you are at this facility, because you need to keep a professional demeanor since this facility serves the public. Eagerness to learn is just as important so you are able to accurately complete any tasks given.
