This summer I had the privilege of interning at The Love Yourself Foundation (LYF). With the previous experience in marketing that I had I figured that not only was this a good organization to intern with but I knew I could expand my skills by doing so. In LYF, I was able to use more marketing strategies than I had before in the past by collaborating with the marketing team and creating certain content. I believe that it has definitely helped me within my future career because I was able to work in teams in an efficient manner. My internship has directly tied into my major study which is communications and marketing because like I previously stated I was able to work as a teammate in executive settings and contribute to the organization with complete freedom.
My internship has only helped me realize that marketing is absolutely what I wanna do in the future as my career. Not only do I just enjoy this career field, but I know that I can be good at it and I foresee a lot of success coming from this career for me. It fits my personality completely and it helps me become a better me and I feel that that’s exactly what you want out of a career regardless of the pros and cons that may come with it.
For incoming interns, I would definitely recommend that the best thing you can do is put yourself out there and give it the best you can. I have never interned anywhere before and I was very nervous and afraid of joining and being a new intern in the organization but instead I was met with helping hands, smiling faces, and new friends. Not to mention, a whole lot of more experience in the field that I would like to pursue post graduation. Networking is the best tool that any incoming interns can utilize and they should as they move forward in their professional career, it’s scary and there’s a lot of unknowns but it’s worth it in the end.
Here’s a photo of some of my team and onlookers at an event that was thrown that I helped promote & market:
