Working at Nevada Policy Research Institute as a general intern has been an incredible experience. The team works as a think tank to develop policies that are focused on limited government. While my views remain to agree that some issues require the government and other economic policies require limited government, the staff is patient in respecting my views and providing their point of views. This internship has helped me see the libertarian point of view on Nevada policies. I have also done a lot of research to understand my community and the constant changing views. I do believe the research that I have done for my piece on rent control will continue to benefit me in my career in researching litigation and discovery phases. My internship has tied in with my studies in Political Science as the senior project is based on research. I was given sources and philosophical books to help conduct my research at NPRI. There were little educational requirements needed, NPRI is very good at providing the tools I need to become successful in their work environment.
While I may not be interested in becoming a researcher specifically for policies that involve limited government. I am open to the idea of helping gather data in regards to general policies to then be manipulated into their own opinions. This is something that we learned in PSC 302 Research Methods and it carried on in my internship work as well. They had provided many books and a training program through Atlas Network to identify what makes a good Think Tank and where to start. A piece of advice that I have for incoming interns is be prepared to read and absorb a lot of new knowledge! We had monthly book clubs and had great discussions on many different point of views of economics and some philosophies to live by.

Deeanna,
You did a great job! It was so bittersweet to leave on our last day. Your work on the rent control article was great and I hope it was received well.
I'm so proud of you for working hard and completing your internship! Great job this summer!
