Thoughout my internship experience, I realized how much it has benefited me in relation to my career path as a marriage and family therapist. Not only did it help me improve on my communication and public speaking skills, but also gave me the opportunity to talk with a different age group. In my future career, I knew that I will have to talk with elders, teens, and children when giving therapy to families and couples. Safenest promotes the awareness of domestic violence for all age groups and being able to have this chance to talk specifically with teens and children has given me a better understanding with them.
I might not continue a career path with my internship because it does not fit with what I am going for, but the whole experience has been very rewarding. Even though this internship focuses more on the educational aspect of the career, I was able able to build up my public speaking skills. I knew that I will have to do presentations and public speaking to a group of people throughout my career path to becoming a marriage and family therapist so doing the internship with Safenest has given me the opportunity to enhance those skills. One piece of advice that I would like to give for incoming interns is to make sure you collaborate with your supervisor and other interns that are likely to be working with you. In my personal experience, I was able to collaborate with the supervisor on what to talk about when I was shadowing them while collaborating with other interns on what parts we can talk about in our presentation. Having both great collaboration, public-speaking, and communication skills are the key factors to being an intern as Safenest. There are no specfic educational requirements in relation to earning this postition, but I would focus more on your interpersonal skills as it will be helpful when you interact with different age groups and with your supervisors. Other than that, I am very grateful to spend the time with Safenest and learn so much from them.

Just finished reading '1984' by mcdonald's breakfast time George Orwell; it's a thought-provoking masterpiece.
Hi, it sounds like you had a great internship! It is extremely important to have interpersonal communication skills for any job so it’s awesome that you were able to build on that. SafeNest sounds like a wonderful opportunity to have an internship in and to have been a part of!
