I had the wonderful opportunity to be an intern at The Love Yourself Foundation and I learned a lot about myself during this internship. As an editor/writer for the LYF blog, I was able to work and collaborate with a lot of great people while also doing something that I enjoyed. I decided to pursue an English degree in hopes of one day getting to work in the publishing industry as an editor. Before this internship, I never really had any experience when it came to editing for other people so there was always the chance that I might not have liked it, but doing this internship has only made me more certain about the future career that I want and I was really relieved to find that out as someone who has switched their major twice. One thing that I would say that future interns need to be successful in this internship is good communication and LYF does a good job of making everyone involved feel comfortable when it comes to communicating.
After doing this internship, I realized there are definitely some more things I need to learn. Since I want to continue on this path to becoming an editor, I definitely need to gain more experience with editing and also just need to expand my knowledge on grammar. For my last few semesters at UNLV, I am definitely going to focus on taking editing classes so I'm better off. I also need to not be afraid to put myself out there more. For example, if I have an idea that might be good, I should just share it rather than keeping it to myself because even if that idea isn't used, it can definitely lead to other ideas being formed.
Overall, I'm extremely grateful for this internship. I've experienced a lot of new things and have met a lot of great people during its duration!
