How has this internship benefited your future career, and how will it continue to benefit it? Two of my future goals are to be in a capacity where I could mentor young people, and help them realize their full potential; I Also hope to use music, and music education to aid in building connections between generations, and encourage continued educational growth. By helping to establish a music school, my internship has given me the opportunity to do just that.
Does your internship tie into your major of study? In many ways yes. Music and Language are integral in everything that we do. This internship was no exception. I’ve always considered communication to be a strong suit of mine, but I was able to work on it in an entirely different way. Being able to communicate your own expectations and make them make sense to those who matter is paramount to one's success.
Which, if any, educational requirements do you believe you needed beforehand in order to be successful in this internship? I believe what would have really allowed me to truly excel in this internship is if I would have already completed my degree, and I did not have to split my time. I believe that would have enabled me to devote an appropriate amount of time to all areas of this internship.
Reflect on why you are (or are not) interested in this particular career after completing your internship. If I had the opportunity to work with this internship full time, I believe it could be beneficial to my future career. My only hope is that I would be able to make a sustainable living while I’m working on my own individual goals and aspirations.
Identify training, education, skills, or experiences you need to gain in order to secure a full-time position in this field, if you choose to pursue it. Obtaining a degree in social work or a related field is crucial. Additionally, gaining teaching certifications in music education, honing interpersonal and communication skills, and acquiring diverse experience will enhance qualifications. Staying updated on counseling techniques, obtaining relevant certifications, and remaining current with industry trends in both music and social work are essential for a well-rounded professional profile.
What is one piece of advice you have for incoming interns? Be kind to yourself, and if you need assistance, don’t be afraid to ask. As the saying goes , “Closed mouths, don’t get fed”.

Hello Jade! Congrats on your music intership! It's nice to see how music has had a tremendous impact on your life. Based on what you said, I feel you'd be an excellent music education teacher. Not only that, you have a picture with Mrs. Chalmers (that lady made music and choir so fun when I was in middle school). Overall, continue to blossom in your career and I'm sure you'll do great!
