My time at Calm Clinic Psychiatry has prepared me for a career within the therapy world by providing me with hands-on experiences and has left me with the ability to make meaningful relationships with staff and clientele. This internship is related to my major of psychology because Calm Clinic's main focus is making sure that the mental health of patients is our top priority. I was able to sit in and perform TMS treatments which allow us to stimulate the brain's pathways to lessen the side effects of severe depression.
I believe there are no educational requriments needed prior to this internship. The staff are welcoming and want to teach you what they know. I was able to learn by shadowing many providers and learning all about their different specialties. This internship has solidified my career choice and I intend to work within this field.Calm Clinic has truly taught me so much and this lasting experience prompts me to apply for jobs within the field.
If I were to have a full time position within my career field I would need more experience than an internship. These would include a completed bachelor's degree, interpersonal skills, and many supervised hours. This internship prepares me for those tasks by teaching me the building blocks of them.
For those who are future interns my advice is to TRY EVERYTHING. Even if you think you will not be interested.I have been running the clinic’s social media which is new to me but has been one of the most rewarding experiences of the internship. I have been able to connect with others and allow the clinic to be more accesible to clients. This internship is a great opportunity to learn and grow in all aspects of your career and life. Trying new things will improve your career skills, and you may even find something you didnt know you loved.

Hey Cierra! We both interned at Calm Clinic just at different times, however I can see that you also had a great experience with the Calm Clinic team! Thats great! I definitely agree with you that it is super important to try everything you can and you might be surprised in what interests you! I also enjoyed shadowing as it gave a one on one interaction with clients and also allowed us to see TMS! What was even more rewarding was speaking to the patients after finishing their program and hearing how much they improved and how their depressive symptoms lessened. I built a rapport with clients and seeing the same faces everyday it definitely made me involved. So glad you also had a great experience, keep up the drive in the future and goodluck!
Hi Cierra,
I completely agree with your advice to future interns to try everything, even if you're unsure! I interned with a second department that I hadn't originally planned to work with, and it ended up being a great decision. I made a ton of new connections and learned a lot of new skills. I'm really glad to hear you enjoyed your internship, and best of luck to you!
