This internship at the Love Yourself Foundation has just begun my professional career in writing. It has trained me in professionalism, editing, writing, and events! These are all skills that will help me in the future with my writing career. As an English major, this internship aligns directly to my future goals. I think some of my English classes like Writing for the Public helped me to be successful in this internship. Through UNLV I have grown confident in my writing skills (from creative writing courses and other wise) as well as my editing and analyzing skills. As the LYF is a nonprofit, I would love to continue volunteering with them after this semester. I think it is a great company that truly values its workers and the work we do. I think it will help me gain that further experience needed to get a full time position in writing and editing. Though I am confident in my skills now, I think it will just help me stand out more so! I hope incoming interns join us at LYF as it is truly a great working environment. My advice to them going forward is to just be clear about what time you have available and what you can and can’t do. It’s always okay to ask for more guidance or help when you’re new. Better that then to mess it up and need it redone!

Hello Sierra!
I loved reading your blog post and I wanted to say it has been an amazing semester interning with you at LYF. You are a wonderful and great writer and editor and its amazing to hear how much this internship helped you grow personally and also in your major. I also loved the advice you gave because I also believe that it is important to never be afraid ask for help. Personally, LYF has taught me to be vulnerable and never be afraid to be opened. I love how LYF not only help us gain skills, but also to grow as a person. It has been a real pleasure meeting and getting to work with you this semester!
