In Spring 2022
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as an intern at Infinity Hospice Care. Being able to provide care and support to older adults has really solidified my interest in the field of Geropsychology and I am grateful that I have been granted the opportunity to help my patients while also working towards gaining experience in my desired career field. In my time here I’ve had 3 different patients and gotten to know them and their families and provide some sort of help and relief to all involved. I have a much better understanding of what it is like to work with older adults and what must be done to provide care and comfort. Additionally, I have also been able to work some on the administrative side helping to update training materials, learning graphic design to create brochures and other materials, and learning aspects of how a medical office functions. I have a hard time thinking about and dealing with the end-of-life process, but I know that since I want to work as a Geropsychologist, many of my patients’ issues will be centered around the aging and end-of-life process. This experience has taught me a lot about the end of life process and what patients go through both mentally and physically, and I believe that although I have a long way to go, my experience at Infinity Hospice Care has given me so much insight and helped my get a little bit closer to finding peace with the end of life process.
