As a recruiting intern at a financial advisory firm, I needed to know how to have conversations effectively and communicate in a highly professional manner in order to arrange interviews and source potential candidates. I feel educationally that anyone doing this internship should be well versed in English areas as well as Communications areas. I believe this internship will benefit my career because the whole experience was very hands on and I had to learn things pretty fast, but now I feel completely comfortable with the job and the company. I feel like I have started to build some good relationships. I also picked up some networking and talent acquisition skills that I didn't have before. Being an English Major with an emphasis in creative writing, this internship was a good fit. It required me to collaborate on writing templates, have good phone language, and schedule appointments while being brief but providing all the details. I am interested in the Recruiting and Human Resources field because I find it to be manageable work and I get to give people opportunities, which is a pretty neat incentive. To go further down this career path I would need to do more training to communicate on the higher (full time) level. This would require training sessions on the company software, template guidelines, and coaching sessions. I would also have to meet a certain number of sourced candidates per month, which is not an intern's responsibility. After I do that then I would be ready to fully pursue this career. This is a picture of the conference room, the view is pretty hard to beat.
