My experience as a Podcast and Marketing Intern with the Love Yourself Foundation has been incredibly enriching, equipping me with invaluable skills in media creation, video editing, and overall creativity. Prior to embarking on this internship, I had no prior exposure to the realms of creativity and social media creation. However, under the guidance and mentorship of the LYF team, I was able to navigate each step with their support. As a result, I not only acquired transferable skills applicable to the thriving media-focused industry but also delved into the essence of fostering genuine connections with others and nurturing one's true self. Throughout this internship, I have been extensively involved in editing podcast audio, crafting original social media posts, and proficiently managing content scheduling on platforms such as Instagram and Spotify. I had never considered myself to be a particularly creative individual or envisioned myself pursuing this field before joining the internship. Nonetheless, owing to the nurturing environment fostered by the LYF, I have honed my skills to the extent of feeling confident in creating TikTok content for the organization's newly established TikTok account. It is safe to say that my interest in the realm of media creation, particularly in spreading meaningful messages, has significantly amplified as a result of this experience. While my major in Psychology may not appear directly aligned with this internship, the common thread of self-love and mental health weaves through both domains. This internship has allowed me to explore these themes further and recognize their interplay with media and communication, providing a well-rounded perspective that augments my academic pursuits. One piece of advice for inncoming interns is to have very good communication with the organization founder/supervisor, Monica, and the admin team members if you have any questions or problems. They are extremely understanding and sweet as long as you honestly communicate with them. Since this is a remote internship, messaging leadership as soon as an issue or question arises is the best way to make sure things get back on track as fast as possible. Also, make sure to take notes during your training sessions (especially the steps involved in editing a podcast episode!). Most importantly, be open to learning more about yourself and allowing yourself to build strong rapport with the other members of the LYF, becuase you definitely will! If you're considering joining this non-profit organization, you won't regret it. Good luck, you got this! :) Here is an example of a social media post I made!
