Nevada CASA is a non-profit institution that recruits volunteers to represent children who endured abuse and negligence that do not necessarily have representation in court. As a legislative intern at the Nevada Court Appointed Special Advocates Association (CASA), entering the non-profit organization is one to closely be attentive to. The relationship in non-profit versus publicly administered organizations are distinguishably notable, yet differ when income is received. Within my internship, we were given the task of collecting data to their designated state legislatures by reaching out to other CASA associations outside of the state of Nevada. Comparison and contrasts were necessary, since that they present an indication of what our financial assistance would be exactly. Those who have an interest in this organization shall become knowledgeable in this criteria, and it regards a beneficial factor since interacting with state governors, legislators, and other programs in Nevada are highly primary. No particular educational requirement is mandatory, as the program merely requests for a fundamental basis for the data. However, it is much recommended to have experience with Microsoft Word Excel in order to submit the resulting data into its collection. Overall, this experience was not in my best suit, and although I do want to eventually become a federal judge in Nevada, it seems that for my first experience, there were quite a few tasks that were far out of my expectations. Maybe if the experience was not too rapid in its progress, I would have a stronger leverage in researching and be able to obtain more of its data and achievements. This photo was during the UNLV COLA Internship ceremony. I will remember this day because it was the day of my boyfriend’s jazz concert. In addition, I had finished working nine days straight after working six days all of November. (I did have to return to work on Thursday, but it was my actual Friday, meaning that I got my four days off again.) This photo attaches quality significance, because it is a reminder that I have managed to balance full-time school, employment, and extra-curriculars e.g. NV CASA, Prelaw Women of UNLV.
