In Summer 2022
My internship with Climate Action Nevada was a unique experience that I greatly enjoyed. There was a multitude of learning opportunities, and volunteering opportunities all to lead up to end-of-semester events hosted by the interns. As someone who is very passionate about environmental conservation, I felt privileged to be able to work with such a wonderful organization during the summer. My internship did correlate with my studies because of my minor in political science, and I learned about policy and the different ways how the American government can affect our environment. While not much wassail about world politics I discovered alot about environmental justice and while talking with some members, I learned about the plethora of views one might have about any given topic. There were numerous occasions to work on personal skills such as communication and planning. If I were to offer advice to anyone going into the internship, I would tell them to not be afraid of getting out there and trying the new things that this internship will inspire you to do. While I had to force myself to get more comfortable with speaking in front of a group, it was a lot fun to get out there and cleanup areas and inspire others to get involved in taking care of the environment and our planet. The hardest part I would say is the rejection when you try to encourage better care of the environment. People say in some of these given situations, and yet you get that one person that is willing to help out, it fills you up without so much happiness!
