  • What is a Community-Based Research Internship (CBRI) ?

    • A Community-Based Research Internship (CBRI) is an opportunity for a student to work with a community partner on a research project which will benefit their community. For example, an appropriate research project could include conducting surveys or running focus groups to collect new data, assessing current data, writing literature reviews, or running program reviews.

    • Completed at least one course on research methods (at time of application)

Available Research Internships

  • How does a CBRI differ from a workforce internship?

    • CBRI student interns will be gathering new data or assessing current data, not participating in day-to-day work activities such as administrative work or fundraising. They will primarily be engaged in work which enables them to practice their qualitative or quantitative research and data analysis skills, and will have the opportunity to develop research which can be presented at the end-of-semester research symposium of the UNLV Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR).

    • CBRIs should be remote or hybrid in nature and should not require the student intern to work from a specific location consistently.
