UNLV PATC Internship Experience

This internship benefitted me by exposing me to the many tests and processes that goes on when it comes to assessing clients. It also taught me phone etiquette and skills, as I needed to call clients to see if they are fit for the clinic, depending on what they wanted to be assessed for. Yes, this internship does tie into my major of study. I want to one day go into clinical psychology, Not much educational requirements are needed in order to become successful in this internship. You manly need to know how to work the computer, and some critical thinking skills when it comes to looking over client files and doing inventory. Some social and phone skills would go a long way as well. I am very much interested in this particular career after completing my internship. Psychology is one of my passions in life. I love learning about all the human emotions and idiosyncrasies. Humans are complicated, not everyone is the same. So I like to see as to what makes us all so different, especially when it comes to our minds. I love learning about psychology in general. So being able to interact with the clinicians and glancing through the psychological tests gives me even more drive to learn more about this field. To secure a full-time position in this field, you will need to know a lot about how clinical psychology works, and the right ways to administer tests and assess clients. Some technology skills as well as social skills would help greatly in this field, since you’ll be inputting and scanning the test results onto a computer, and you’ll be interacting a lot with many people. An advice I have for incoming interns is do be diligent when it comes to your job. Although it may sometimes be easy, lack of attentiveness can result in major issues down the road. Thank you for reading, and I wish everyone good luck to all your future endeavors.
