This internship has benefited my future career because I can gain direct patient care by communicating with various patients. I learned how to approach patients depending on their needs and wants and assisted them to the best of my ability. Being able to intern with Infinity Hospice Care will continue to benefit me and my future career because of the knowledge, skills, and experiences I have gained. This will help me become further ahead in the career I want to pursue and will help me become a well-rounded doctor. My internship does tie into my major of study because I am learning about health and wellness in patients, while also learning how to understand different emotions and mental illnesses. In both of my studies in biology and psychology, it is crucial to understand the theoretical concepts related to medicine and health. Still, through this internship, I have learned it is important to listen to the patient’s voice as it is the bridge that connects theoretical concepts to reality. Having a basic knowledge of healthcare, psychology, and biology will help me become successful in this internship. I am interested in this particular career of medicine after completing my internship because I want to help those in need, but also provide love and care to the patients that I encounter. Some skills that are needed to secure a full-time position in this field, if you choose to pursue it, would be communication, organization, teamwork, dependability, and a passion for helping others. One piece of advice I would have for incoming interns is to do your onboarding ahead of time because it takes longer for the results to come back and to be open-minded about meeting new people and patients.
This is a picture of the Orientation Manual that helped learn what my role was in this internship and how to communicate with patients.

I loved hearing you had a positive educational experience throughout your internship with Infinity Hospice Care. Is this a field you are interested in pursuing as a doctor? Within geriatric medicine, social and mental health can be as important as healthcare and biology. Did you have this experience during your internship?
