Hi! I'm Kate and I participated in an internship at an organization called Future Makers this summer. Future Makers provides concious kids workshops and camps with an emphasis on making all kids, especially neurodivergent kids, feel welcomed. They work towards turning kids into young entreprenuers by helping them find something they're passionate about and giving them the resources to create and sell products. I think that this internship has benefitted my future career because it has given me more experience working with children, which is what I want to do in the future. My ultimate goal is to become a kids and family social worker. I think it is beneficial to work with many different kids and understand how they emotionally and physically can respond to situations. This related to my major, psychology, because when something goes wrong, you need to be able to find successful behavior modifcation plans, which is a topic I learn a lot about. I think taking many psychology classes about mental disorders, behavior, and child development helped me be successful in this internship. After doing this internship, I am more interested in my career path because it reminded me of how much I love working with kids. In order to become a social worker, it would be beneficial to get my masters. One peice of advice I would give to incoming interns would be to make sure you heavily research the company you are applying to and make sure they are the right fit for you and your goals.

I'm so glad you had a good experience and it seems like it really validated that you're on the right path! Great job!
Hi Kate,
I love that you already have a solid idea of what you would like to do and how you are already working towards becoming a kids and family social worker. This internship sounds like so much fun! From the photos, I love that there are so many different activities and that they are all catered towards inclusion and inclusivity. I wish you all the best in your journey towards becoming a social worker and believe that your internship coupled with your academic experiences will prove to be beneficial in building your foundation.
