This internship has helped me to benefit my future career by overall giving me a good sense of what life as a full-time, working adult will be like. My internship was with a construction company where I focused on learning project management, so it is not necessarily related to my future career as a lawyer. I do think moving forward that this internship will help me to know what to expect from an "adult job" when I get one.
My internship does tie into my areas of study. My areas of study are Criminal Justice and Business Management. The whole reason I did this internship was that my capstone project revolved around organized crime in the construction industry, which ties these two areas of study together in an interesting way.
I think having previous knowledge of actual accounting/financial software would have benefitted me more in this internship.
I am partially interested in the career path of construction after the internship. My dad has always worked in construction and it obviously will be a part of my life in one way or another the older I get.
A lot of training and experience working on job sites with equipment and also understanding job plans really help if one chooses to pursue this career path.
One piece of advice I would give interns is to make sure you choose an internship that actually relates in some way to what you plan on doing after graduation.

Hi Michele! It's great to hear that your internship provided you with insights into the "real world" and showed you what it could be like to work full-time. Even though your internship in construction may not necessarily connect to your future career as a lawyer, it's important to recognize the experiences that you gained through this internship and the entire journey overall!
