My internship at the Calm Clinic will benefit my future career because I now have an insight into Physician Assistants' roles and their schedules within their daily lives. With a major in psychology and a minor in neuroscience, the Calm Clinic ties into my undergrad studies because I was able to see firsthand the neuroscience aspects behind the medication given while also learning about different mental health disorders. I believe that I was able to secure this internship due to my major and my minor, my past experiences with mental health, and my interpersonal skills with coworkers and patients. After learning the roles that were shown to me, I believe that I am more interested in a career as a physician's assistant because I like the patient interaction aspect and the involvement in bettering their mental health and helping them become happier overall.
If one chose a career as a Physician Assistant, one would first need a bachelor's degree with additional school-specific courses. They would also require a certain number of shadow and direct patient care hours. After that, they would have to complete a master's in physician assistant studies. With that being said, one piece of advice I would give to incoming interns would be to look into the roles you will play within your position and see if it will benefit you in the future. I also believe it would help future interns be self-motivated because they will be held responsible for finding shadow benefits within different departments.

I too am a psychology major and as I finish my undergrad I have become focused on applied psychology so reading your post was very interesting to me. I also love neuroscience and all things brain. My main interest now is the exploration into psychedelic assisted therapy of treatment resistant depression and other areas. This was also a location I considered interning. Thanks for sharing!
