My spring internship was at a volunteer organization called Save Ancient Studies Alliance (SASA) where I worked remotely as part of the access team. When I joined the access team I was able to take part in building a database that will help people around the world find colleges and universities that offer degrees in ancient studies programs. I was also able to gain more knowledge of using excel and using different programs within google which helped me improve my technical skills. The internship allowed me to work with an amazing team of people from around the world. I also chose this internship because it ties into my Anthropology degree, and I enjoy learning about ancient cultures which made this internship perfect for me. I feel this internship does have some educational requirements based on which team you intern for but overall if you have an interest in ancient studies this will be a wonderful opportunity. I feel this internship has been a great experience for me personal where I learned more skills than before, got to work with a great team of people, learned more about ancient studies, and got to be part of something that will help people who also share an interest in ancient studies. I think after completing this experience I am not sure which career path I want to take but having done this internship gave me a starting path to looking into different options for a future career. The one thing I would recommend if you joined SASA is not be afraid to ask questions because everyone I worked with there was always willing to help you if needed. Overall, this has been a positive experience and I think SASA has something for everyone who likes ancient history.
