This semester I was allowed the opportunity to intern at Freedom Law Firm, a law firm specializing in bankruptcy law. Throughout my internship, I worked closely with one of their paralegals Brandon Martes, a previous UNLV intern for Freedom Law Firm, to start the client litigation process.
I am a Political Science major, and while politics and law are heavily intertwined, my undergraduate studies have always revolved mainly around government, public opinion, and public policy, more than the legal field. However, I found my time at Freedom Law Firm beneficial to my career goals as it introduced me to the litigation process, something I will surely use as I pursue my career as an attorney in medical malpractice.
Additionally, Freedom Law Firm has introduced me to another area of law, one I had never considered -- bankruptcy law. While I found bankruptcy law to be very mundane and tedious, not an area of law I would pursue, I think it is still beneficial to broaden your exposure to different areas of law. So, while I do not want to practice bankruptcy law, I still wish to practice medical malpractice and recommend internships to everyone, as they can solidify one's aspirations.
To obtain an internship at Freedom Law Firm I do not think any prior education requirements are needed. However, a good attitude, a readiness to learn, and a good attention to detail would help an intern thrive at Freedom Law Firm. Likewise, I believe that possessing the skills mentioned above -- readiness to learn, good attention to detail, and a positive attitude -- are also needed to secure a full-time position in this field. One piece of advice for incoming interns: Do not be afraid to ask questions when you're confused.
Overall, I enjoyed my internship experience at Freedom Law Firm, even though it is not an area of law I would like to practice. It has introduced me to the legal field, helped build my resume, and introduced me to some amazing people. Shout out to Brandon for training me, because I know he is going to read this.
P.S. I did not take many pictures at my internship site so here is a picture of one of the little cubicles.

Hey there Kadin!
It's nice that you managed to intern at an organization that fits into the theme of your studies, even if law isn't exactly what you'd prefer. It's also relieving to know that your organization seems to be very accommodating for their interns by allowing them to ask questions. I always get nervous about asking people for help, so I'm glad that Freedom Law Firm seems so supportive!
