This semester, I had the opportunity to intern as a PSY 200 peer mentor. This internship has taught me various valuable skills that will help me in future jobs and careers. Having 54 students and having to meet with them individually and in groups, I have learned how to properly manage my time while also balancing my school and personal life. I have learned various peer mentor skills such as listening, conversational skills, resourcefulness, email etiquette skills, and so on. This internship will benefit me in my future career because interacting with many different kinds of students will always be beneficial in any kind of career. I am interested in psychology and psychology is all about human interactions and behavior and this internship fits perfectly in line with it. I also only mentored specifically psychology students, which has been very beneficial to me and the mentees because I was able to share my experiences as an undergrad in psychology and the opportunity to offer my advice on anything psychology-related. After completing this internship, I think I would be interested in this particular career which is mentoring. It is very rewarding to try and help others with their goals and ambitions while witnessing them accomplish those goals. I learned something new from every person I have met throughout this internship and will cherish each conversation I have had with all of my mentees. I only hope to have helped my mentees in any way with their psychology undergraduate career, whether that be in getting involved, time management skills, etc.

I'm so glad this was a positive experience for you- thanks for being a great addition!
