I had the pleasure to intern at The Love Yourself Foundation this spring semester. I do have to say it is a perfect way to end my college career (at least for now). I work as a blog editor and contributor. I don't think someone needs to have the best skills at writing or editing, but it is a huge plus. As long as an intern is ready and prepared to learn the skill, they can achieve it. They should also be coachable to keep the foundation running smoothly. I'm an English major with a concentration in Creative Writing, and I do believe working at LYF has prepared me for what it would be like to make content for any company. With each article I edited it was better than the last, and I would say the same with my writing. Having the creative freedom with my writing as long as I stuck to the theme further proved words were my passion, and I'm glad to have pursued English as my major. I think in order for me to gain the experience I need for similar career paths, I need to keep creating and doing it well. If I wanted to be a blog writer for a tech company, I would need to understand not only the business and its mission but the items they want consumers to know about. I would need a couple of years of experience in a similar position and the same amount of work for my portfolio.

Hi Selina,
It sounds like you have a great experience at your internship. I had heard many great things about the Love Yourself Foundation, and I am happy to hear that you were able to work on the skills needed for your future career. That's awesome that you got to do creative work that you enjoy. It seems like you have a solid plan to gain more experience and build up your portfolio. Best of luck to you!
