My internship role at the American Red Cross was as a Salesforce & Data specialist. The educational requirements that were necessary for me to be effective in this role was a combination of basic communication skills and self discipline in handling various projects and tasks given to me throughout the internship. Knowledge in Excel, PowerBI, and Salesforce were the primary skills that I learned as well as baseline understanding were helpful to me as I began this internship opportunity. I feel this internship will benefit me greatly in my future career as I am looking to transition into a data analyst role and this internship fit perfectly as an entry level experience into that field. This internship tied into my major area of study which is business as I had the opportunity to work with Salesforce as well as databases that provide relevant experience to the type of careers that I will be looking into moving forward into my professional career.
The time spent at this internship has made me interested in pursuing further opportunities with the American Red Cross moving forward as I have really enjoyed my time working with the people and believe the experience I am getting through my degree relates to me making a transition to a similar role post-grad. Moving forward, I believe I will need to keep learning more databases and becoming more proficient in these systems to secure a position in a role like this. Overall it has been a complete pleasure to do this internship and I am eternally grateful to the American Red Cross for providing this opportunity to me as well as UNLV extending this opportunity to me as well.
