Nevada Humanities Las Vegas Office, 1017 S. First Street, Unit 190 Las Vegas, NV 89101
-Brainstorm and produce at least one public program/semester in collaboration with Nevada Humanities staff connected to the Neon Pacific Initiative, highlighting AAPI placemaking, stories, and culture in southern Nevada
-Attend regular meetings and communicate (phone, email, video calls, in-person) with Nevada Humanities staff and program partners
-Sustain ongoing programming and partnerships with AAPI organizations in Nevada
-Develop new partnerships with AAPI communities and organizations in Nevada
-Ensure programming and communications align with the mission of Nevada Humanities and the goals of the Neon Pacific Initiative
-Assist with writing and editing social media and website content as needed
-Assist with documenting events and programs (film, video, photography, etc.) for use on Nevada Humanities social media platforms, websites, and other mediums as needed
-Evaluate programs as needed (creating and distributing audience surveys; soliciting, compiling, collecting, and analyzing data)
-Attend Nevada Humanities organized events in southern Nevada, when connected to AAPI public programming, with some travel required. This may also include setting up and taking down program needs/equipment at program sites.
Interns placed at this position will learn:
-The value of the humanities and the power of the humanities in everyday life.
-How to interface with professional staff in a professional setting.
-Project development including budget development, project planning, project implementation, marketing, and project evaluation.
-How to identify, seek, develop, and nurture partnerships with a diverse group of organizations and people.
-Nonprofit management and leadership skills.
-An appreciation of Nevadan history, and the importance of storytelling and the humanities in everyday life.
Interest in public, cultural humanities-based programming; a capacity for creative thinking; strong writing skills; strong attention to detail; self-motivation; the ability to work with people from all walks of life.
Fluency in other languages (for translation and/or outreach purposes), and experience with graphic and web design, and digital multimedia would be a plus.
Position Description
Nevada Humanities is one of 56 independent, nonprofit state and territorial humanities
councils that partner with the National Endowment for the Humanities - we are Nevada’s state humanities council partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Nevada Humanities produces and supports humanities-based educational and cultural programs that articulate the Nevada experience, feature local culture and heritage, and facilitate the investigation of ideas that matter to the people of Nevada and their communities.
