The intern will be working on site in Special Collections and Archives at the Lied Library
We would like this position to first gain an understanding of the mission and goals of Special Collections and Archives, and then reach out to a selected list of Las Vegas AAPI community organizations as an ambassador for SCA. They would make these organizations aware of the valuable work that SCA does in documenting the diverse history of Las Vegas, and possibly pave the way for future donations that would enrich our documentation of the AAPI community in Las Vegas or provide information on how we can guide them The intern will be responsible for forging connections between SCA and these organizations and their members via email, phone, and in person contact. Tasks would include outreach to these organizations via tabling and attendance at AAPI community events, along with arranging tours and show and tells of SCA. The intern may also be responsible for developing library research guides of Las Vegas AAPI-related material and gathering a collection of material focused on specific Las Vegas AAPI-related events and topics. The intern needs to demonstrate attention to detail, responsiveness, time management skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to balance multiple tasks.
